China hides evidence of Muslim internment camps

With international inspections imminent, Chinese officials are ramping up efforts to conceal evidence of hundreds of “re-education centers” for Muslims in Xinjiang province, according to the Epoch Times.

The Times report, citing sources and recent activity in the region, noted the U.S. and U.N. have accused China of imprisoning up to 1 million Muslims from Xinjiang’s Uyghur ethnic minority, along with Kazakhs and Kyrgyz.

Radio Free Asia reported last month China is expecting the inspection within weeks.

China contends the camps are vocational and educational centers established to curb terrorism and religious extremism.
